50,000 Muslims to Gather in Hampshire for Peace Convention Amid Rising Anti-Muslim Sentiment
Amid rising anti-Muslim sentiment in Britain, over 50,000 Muslims are set to gather in Hampshire from July 24-26 for the 60th Jalsa Salana UK, the country's largest annual Muslim convention. Organized by the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, the event will bring together participants from more than 100 countries under the motto "Love for All, Hatred for None." The temporary 208-acre site, Hadeeqatul Mahdi, has been built and operated by over 7,000 volunteers providing accommodation, security, transport, healthcare, and sanitation. The gathering aims to promote peace, service, and unity at a time of heightened division and record anti-Muslim hostility in the UK.
Global Impact
The convention's scale and message of peace have social and political implications. Socially, it demonstrates the capacity of religious minorities to organize large-scale events promoting unity, potentially countering negative narratives.
