Rain intensity may decrease in the capital and some other areas

Bangladesh's Meteorological Department has reported that rainfall intensity may gradually decrease in the capital Dhaka and other regions, particularly in Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram, and Dhaka divisions. The sky over Dhaka began clearing after 2 PM on Monday, and meteorologists expect the reduction in rainfall intensity to continue from Tuesday afternoon onward. However, the monsoon is forecast to become active again from Thursday, leading to increased rainfall. On Monday, the department issued a 24-hour heavy to very heavy rainfall warning for six divisions, extending the alert for another 24 hours due to continuous downpours. The persistent rain has caused flooding in areas such as Dhanmondi Lake and Rabindra Sarobar in the capital. Meteorologist Muhammad Abul Kalam Mollik stated on Monday that the intensity would decrease from Tuesday.

Global Impact

This regional weather event in Bangladesh has limited global economic impact, though it may affect local agricultural output and insurance claims in the short term. The flooding in Dhaka and other divisions could disrupt supply chains for ready-made garments, a key export sector, but the impact is likely minor and temporary.
