Turkey ranks fifth largest automotive hub in Europe, 13th globally
Turkish Trade Minister Ömer Bolat announced that Turkey has become the fifth largest automotive production hub in Europe and the 13th largest globally, based on recent industry figures. The announcement was made at an event organized by the Automotive Exporters' Association under the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TİM). Turkey's automotive sector has seen significant growth in production and export volumes, driven by investments from major global manufacturers and a strong supply chain network. The country produced over 1.3 million vehicles in the past year, with exports exceeding $30 billion. This ranking reflects Turkey's strategic position as a bridge between Europe and Asia, supported by free trade agreements and a competitive labor market. Minister Bolat emphasized the government's commitment to further supporting the sector through incentives and infrastructure improvements.
Global Impact
Economically, Turkey's automotive growth enhances its export earnings and industrial output, potentially attracting further foreign direct investment. Politically, it strengthens Turkey's bargaining power in EU trade negotiations and regional geopolitics.
