Hooda Accuses BJP of Scandals, Rising Debt in Haryana
Former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, a senior Congress leader, criticized the BJP government during a rally in Rohtak, alleging that the BJP's scandals are being exposed and that the state's debt has risen sharply. Hooda claimed that the Congress government left a debt of only 70,000 crore rupees from 1966 to 2014, but the BJP has increased it to 5.5 lakh crore rupees in just 12 years. He stated that 90% of the borrowed money goes to paying interest, harming the future of youth. Hooda also alleged irregularities in the purchase of paddy and wheat, and accused the BJP of misusing bank funds. Regarding the Ram Temple incident, Hooda called it a robbery, not a theft, and demanded a Supreme Court probe, echoing remarks by RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat that such an act had never occurred before.
Global Impact
Politically, this story is a domestic Indian political development with no immediate global spillover. Economically, the allegations of rising state debt and financial mismanagement in Haryana could affect investor confidence in Indian state-level bonds, but the impact is localized.
