The Rajasthan government in India has initiated a public consultation process for the proposed Uniform Civil Code (UCC) Bill 2026. A meeting was held on Thursday in Hanumangarh district, chaired by Dr. Shuchi Chauhan, a member of the drafting committee, via video conference at the district collectorate. The committee invited suggestions and objections from elected representatives, social and religious organizations, and the general public through an online portal. The bill is based on Article 44 of the Indian Constitution, which directs the state to secure a uniform civil code for all citizens. The government aims to incorporate diverse opinions into the final draft before presenting it to the state legislature.
