Russia Restricts Import of All Quarantine Products from Armenia

Russia's agricultural watchdog, Rosselkhoznadzor, announced that starting June 12, it will restrict the import of all quarantine products from Armenia and their transit through Russia to other Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) member states. The decision, reported by Day.Az, is attributed to systematic detections of quarantine objects in shipments from Armenia. The restriction covers a wide range of plant-based goods subject to quarantine controls. Rosselkhoznadzor noted that it has been identifying these issues since May of this year. This move could disrupt trade flows within the EAEU, as Armenia is a key exporter of agricultural products to Russia and other member states. The ban may escalate tensions between the two countries, which are formal allies within the EAEU and the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO).
