Frequently asked questions

What Neat Digest is, how the score works, what it costs, and where the news comes from.

What is Neat Digest?

A daily, AI-scored news brief for finance professionals. Every morning at 6 AM ET it delivers five stories that moved markets, each scored 0–10 by impact, mapped for source bias and analysed for the desk. The web feed updates continuously through the day, and the archive lists every story published so far.

How is a story scored?

By a calibrated AI prompt benchmarked against nine fixed historical market events, across four dimensions: scale of impact, depth of change, source credibility and time-sensitivity. The score is published together with the reasoning that produced it. The anchors, the dimensions and the tier bands are all set out on the methodology page.

What do the tier names mean?

The scale is divided into seven calibrated tiers, from Noise at the bottom to Civilization at the top, and the reasoning on each story names the tier it landed in. Naming the tier is what gives the number meaning: “7.0” on its own says nothing about what the story was graded against. The full ladder is on the methodology page.

Where does the news come from?

Five commercial news APIs and a curated pool of more than 1,500 RSS feeds, covering international wires, major dailies, and specialist technology and industry press. The reporting is other people’s and is credited as such: every story names the outlets that carried it. What Neat Digest publishes on top of that is the 0–10 score, the reasoning behind it and the source-bias mapping. The full list of feeds is on the about page.

Is it free?

Every story’s summary, score, reasoning and source list are free to read. Members additionally unlock the full Global Impact analysis and the “What It Means for You” section that maps a story to a position. There is a 15-day free trial; it needs a payment method on file, and you are not charged during the trial.

Can the score be trusted?

It is a judgement produced by a model, and it is published with its reasoning precisely so it can be disagreed with. Three things keep it honest: scores are anchored to fixed historical events rather than to the rest of the day’s news, no publisher can pay to have a story boosted, and the score is identical for free and paid readers. Where an outlet has too little signal to rate, it stays unrated instead of getting a guessed badge.

How often does it update?

The web feed updates continuously through the day. The morning email is a digest of what mattered between 4 PM ET the previous day and 5 AM ET, delivered before the pre-market window opens.

Does Neat Digest carry advertising?

The free tier is supported by display advertising through Google AdSense; paid subscribers see no advertisements. Advertising has no influence on which stories are selected or how they score — the scoring prompt is calibrated against historical market events, not advertiser interests.
